Ticket Printing Instructions

This guide explains how to set up your router and Boca printer, load ticket stock, and print tickets from both the mobile and desktop apps

Printer Setup

Opendate will ship you a printer and ticket stock. Once you've received these items, follow these steps for setup:

1. Connect the Printer to Internet

Connect an Ethernet cable from your venue's internet to the back of the printer.

2. Enable Ethernet

  1. Power on the printer.
  2. On the side of the printer hold down the MENU and CHOICES buttons at the same time until the factory menu appears.
  3. Press the MENU button to scroll through menu options until you reach ETHERNET. There are a number of choices to go through before you reach the ETHERNET page!
  4. Once you reach ETHERNET, press the CHOICES button. Then press CHOICES again to switch the setting from NO to YES. Once YES is displayed, press TEST to enter. Then press TEST again to exit and save. The printer will reboot.

3. Load Ticket Stock

Feed the stock through the rear slot, flush against the left edge. The printer will grab it automatically. Press Test to print a test ticket.

4. Note the IP Address on the Test Ticket

On the test ticket, under IP ADD, you should see an IP address, something like 192.168.001.001. If you see 000.000.000.000, power the printer off and back on, then try printing a test ticket again. If that does not update the IP, repeat step 2 or reach out to your Opendate rep for support.

4. Send Us a Picture of the Test Ticket

Finally, send a picture of your test ticket with the values clearly visible to clientsupport@opendate.io and we'll configure your printer remotely. This is required for printing to work.

Ticket Printing

Mobile App Printing

  1. Access the mobile app and navigate to the check-in section.
  2. Click on the desired option and locate the print button to print out a ticket.
  3. Alternatively, through the sell option, go to register, make a transaction, and find the print option next to check-in to print the ticket.

NOTE: The first time you attempt to print, you may see an error message in the app. A popup should then appear:
Allow “Opendate” to find devices on local networks?
Press "Allow" and try to print again.

Print Via USB from your Desktop

If you'd like to print via USB connection, let your Opendate rep know, and they'll configure your account. Then follow these steps:

Mac Users

Windows Users

Follow the steps here:

You'll want to make sure that the Boca is set as your default printer in your system settings - this way Opendate recognizes it when you go to print.

Legacy Printing System (CUDY Router)

Opendate will ship you a printer, a router, and ticket stock. Once you've received these items, follow these steps for setup:

1. Set Up the Router

Plug the router into power, then connect an Ethernet cable from the router's WAN port (rightmost) to your venue's internet. The router will automatically connect to Opendate's VPN.

2. Reset the Printer

  1. Power on the printer and confirm no errors (a "Paper Out" warning is ok).
  2. Power it back off.
  3. Hold the Test button, then power on while holding it for ~10 seconds until the screen shows "Initializing" and you hear several clicks.
  4. Release - the printer will reboot, fully reset.

3. Connect Printer to Router

Plug an Ethernet cable from the printer into a LAN port on the router. Power cycle the printer and wait for it to finish starting up.

4. Load Ticket Stock

Feed the stock through the rear slot, flush against the left edge. The printer will grab it automatically. Press Test to print a test ticket.

If tickets are misaligned: Tear off the stock, press Test to clear the printer, then reload and try again.

5. Send Test Ticket to Opendate

Send a picture of your test ticket with the values clearly visible to clientsupport@opendate.io and we'll configure your printer remotely. This is required for printing to work.

7. Done!

We'll send a test print from our end - once confirmed, ticket printing will be enabled in the Opendate app.
